I dropped out of college in 1994. I had no idea what to do and while I had an interested in photography I never seriously considered a career in it.
I enrolled in a one year course in Marino College in Dublin and by the time the year was over I was hooked. I had spent several days in the Irish Times and Irish Independents Photographic departments, going on assignments with the staff photographers and messing around in the dark rooms. I knew then this is what I wanted to do.
It wasn’t the gear or the variety of jobs but the stories i heard people tell. I was fascinated with other people and I wanted to try and capture their story in a still image.
Since then I have worked for many different types of clients from all over the world and still consider it a privilege to hear each subjects story while I am photographing them.
I live in Balla, Co. Mayo, Ireland with my wife Karen and our son Jack.
