Concentrating on Ireland’s rich cultural heritage as a source of inspiration, Declan is the author of a number of children’s picture books including A Day to Remember at the Giant’s Causeway, The Incredible Sister Bridget, The Fairy Glen and Billy, where have all your friends gone? “Although the books are based quite locally,” comments Declan, “I think the themes are universal and relevant to young readers everywhere.”
Throughout the writing process Declan works closely with some of Ireland’s most talented illustrators. “It’s a great feeling to see how the words are interpreted by someone else,” continues Declan. “The visual impact created by the artists never ceases to amaze me. And I’m delighted with the results!”
