Isabelle Gaborit, encaustic artist

Isabelle Gaborit, encaustic artist

In my studio located on the scenic shores of Lough Derg, I have rekindled the ancient painting process of Encaustics, an immediate and tactile painting method using molten pigmented beeswax.

I have a devouring passion for this ancient painting process and my passion extend to rekindling and sharing its versatility with art lovers, via exhibitions, demonstrations or workshops. There is nothing more delightful to me than eagerly watching the wax melt, releasing her sweet warm aroma in the studio, echoing within me childhood memories of my grandmother beeswax polished floors back in France. I am tapping into something ancient and greater than myself and inviting others to have a glimpse of this world, within and without.

I am also fervent about the physical process of encaustic painting, which echoes the alchemist’s repertoire of metamorphoses and process of manipulating mediums through fire through the carful the application of semi-transparent layers of wax, paint and pigment. A process which demands one has to release control, constantly moving and flowing, resisting fixity.

I am also experienced in conducting group workshops and demonstrations on demand or art enthusiasts, absolute beginners and developing artists alike, wanting to discover a new versatile painting process. You can view my work at www.isabellegaborit.com
