I am the proud owner of Smyth hand made knives. I worked for a number of years as a chef and also trained as a butcher. Through having a keen interest in hunting, fishing and camping, I have used knives most of my life professionally and also for recreation. Using my flair for detail and improved design and functionality I decided to make my own knives. Through research, and trial and error I am completely self thought. I have honed my skills as a knife maker through sheer interest and passion of the art. All of my knives are hand made from blanks of various steels, planks of hard woods and full hides of leather. Where possible I use Irish sourced woods and all is skilfully crafted to the finished product. A great amount of time and detail goes into each of my knives and all receive the same amount of care. Each knife is designed differently so as no two knives are identical, you will receive a unique hand crafted Irish knife.
Smyth knives are current members of the design and craft council of Ireland and are one of only a handful of knife makers in Ireland. We can customize a piece to suit each customer needs and mix and match what ever material desired. Once off commission pieces are also available for special events /occasions.
