Paula Pohli, a West of Ireland Artist in print and paint


 

Paula Pohli is a Dublin born artist and since 2011 she lives in County Mayo, Ireland. She is a Lino printmaker and a painter in egg tempera. Her upcoming solo show of prints and paintings TEMPUS FUGIT Time Flies is planned for 7th September, 2017 in Dublin. Her last solo exhibition was Lino and Egg in darc space gallery, Dublin Ireland.
Printmaking: Paula exhibits her hand burnished linocuts without a press and in low edition in Ireland since 1990. Four solo shows in Dublin and group shows throughout Ireland. Internationally she exhibited in Germany, UK, Holland and China. Since 2006 she participates in over 30 International Print Biennials and Annuals in the US, UK, Bulgaria and Egypt, Germany. In 2012 she had three Print Presentations in the US and Dublin Apparition won an award.

Paula’s Linocuts are printed on Arches, Fabriano, Bockingford papers and on cloth with safe water based inks. Each print is produced individually and no mechanical press is used. It is a labour intensive process. She aims to combine traditional relief printmaking techniques with modern motifs and themes either in Black and White or strong Colour.

Tempera Painting. Since 2012 she paints in traditional egg tempera with egg yolk, dry pigments and water on artist made gessoed panels. Motifs are landscapes and country life in Mayo and Ireland. Stillness is a new and emerging theme.
