McKernan Woollen Mills

We started our business in 1985. We were young, naïve and had a dream of working together as a couple, designing, making and selling beautiful textiles.

In the beginning we had just two handlooms, one in our sitting room and the other one in a bedroom. The warping mill was in the hallway. Three children completed the chaos.

Over the last thirty years the business has constantly developed. We went through our own industrial revolution as we now use the machines that superseded handlooms. A few years ago we also ventured into knitting which gives us endless design possibilities. We now supply over 300 shops and mail order companies all over Europe and in North America.

After all this time we are still excited to get new shade cards from yarn spinners, to match colours and to think up ways of combining everything to design a new scarf. We love what we do and we hope that our customers can sense this in every one of our scarves.
