Home to my first love... fine art watercolour painting...

After working as a creative director in advertising most of my life, i have returned to my first love, fine art painting. Watercolour painting to be precise, as i prefer the translucent qualities unique to that particular medium. I work most days in my studio in the foothills of the Mourne Mountains, County Down, Northern Ireland. I have held five very successful one-man exhibitions since retiring in 2007, and also produce my own limited edition fine art giclée prints in-house, in order to ensure i achieve the closest replication of the original as possible. All my original work and prints can be purchased from my website or by contacting me directly.

Degas is quoted as saying “Painting is very easy when you don’t know how, but very difficult when you do”, and any ‘serious’ artist will agree. You never conquer art, it is always a learning curve, and that is what gives the artist a ‘raison d’être’. I am mostly a realist painter and constantly trying to achieve a sense of atmosphere, through the use of light and shade. I do not have a specific subject matter but work from ideas and images found near my home and those i come across through happy accidents. Light and shade is always at the heart of my efforts every time i sit down in front of a blank canvas.

If you wish to be informed of my exhibitions or updates please email me and i shall add you to my contact list.

I hope you enjoy looking at my work as much as i have enjoyed creating it.
